Yep, I think that's the best way. When I used cheapo gear oil in the '91 (in
the rare green '95 car) tranny, there were folks on this list that claimed
that the tranny would meet certain destruction! My belief is that use
whatever makes it shift good!!
Folks have also used the dino-based GM or Valvoline Synchromesh fluid I the
later trannies with success.

Well my 90 shifted ok with the ATF, After I did the clutch ATF went back
in and it was a bit harder to shift and I won't swear to it Ron but I
think you and I had this conversation at Lapeer and switched to the gear
lube and it was pretty good. Then I did a 50/50 mix gear lube ATF and it
shifts great now. So I would say use what works and play with it till
you find it.
