My trusty old '93 let me down last night. More than once it died as I
accelerated from a stop. It seemed that if I eased into the pedal it
would do okay, but anything more than 1/4 throttle and it would shut
down. Would start back up the first try, though after some extended
cranking. Definitely didn't start like usual.
I was able to reproduce the stalling if I blipped the throttle and
then backed out immediately.
Got home, pulled codes. KOEO 511 and 539. I do have an LPM, and I
did have the EATC on. KOER indicated no additional problems.
Cylinder balance test was fine. I removed the LPM and reset the
computer. Reset the idle this morning and everything seemed fine,
although it's hard to test the rapid acceleration problems in the snow
;^)
Any ideas? Most sensors on the car are less than 3 years old, except
the CKP (or CPS?) - it's original. I've not experienced the failing
crank sensor so I'm not sure of the symptoms. Plugs/wires should be
okay, less than 2 years (20k miles) old for both.
Thanks in advance,
