The fuel pump has pressure and volume specifications. Depends on which pump
you have? I have the 155 LPH so this should put out better than a quart of
fuel in 30 sec. 155 LP/H=2.5 l/min. So you should get 1.25 liters in 30
seconds at the specified pressure of 39 psi. I use my fuel pressure tester
drain hose to check for volume. It's not great because the drain line is
small and is therefore a restriction to open flow but it's easy and I can
get an indication of volume if not the exact output in quarts.
AutoZone loans the exact same model of pressure gauge that I have so maybe
you could just borrow theirs for a day of testing?
Yes you old fuel pump could be causing this. How loud is the pump? Mine
really made a noise in the end!!
