I know it won't make a lot of difference for t hose coming from a long
ways away (thanks to all the California people that are making the
trip!) but Indiana still seems to have lower prices than Illinois, and I
suspect a lot of neighboring states.

Jan and I spend Thursday 6-30 pre-running the rally route and checking
out other INdy things, and found prices around Indianapolis about 15 to
20+ cents a gallon LESS than Illinois. That day, Illinois (Peoria area
anyway) had prices about $235 for regular. and near Indy (didn't check
in the city, but it usually is 5 cents higher at least than surrounding
areas) it was as low as $2.11 for name brand gas, less for off-brands.
We paid $2.15 for BP/Amoco at a couple of sites.

So at least while in the state of Indiana you might pay a little less
than on the way there.

Also, that rally route from the 2000 convention for those that remember
it, is WAY cool and all still there. We are simplifying the
instructions some since there is zero "contest" to it and the goal is
just to find the route and enjoy some of the most fun roads you will
ever see. Trust me on this, the rally is worth doing on Monday or
Friday or if you don't go to or watch the race events. Unless you are
just tired of fun challenging roads, you must find time to do this
route. Takes about 3 hours and covers 75 miles once you get about 20
miles south of Indy.

See you all there!
