Actually, the GTO at Lapeer was an '04 with the 350 HP LS1.

Better yet, Dave Garber drove John Semchena's '02 Maxima 6-speed (250-255
HP, IIRC) into the 14.40s at 98-100 for three runs in a row, and the car was
stone stock.

Even with the 04 GTOs, though, they run consistently like a late-model
F-body that is carrying around another 400 #s.

You know I was thinking the same thing about the GTO when I first read about
it.
The qtr mile seemed too long for a V-8 in a car so small??????

My bro had a 2004 Infinit G35 (280HP) and it ran mid 14s.
It doesn't make sense

The GTO is pretty heavy no?  Like 3750 lb or so?  Physically it's a fairly
small car, and the LS1/6 is pretty light...not sure where they are hiding
the lead.
