[Shotimes] shipping a used gas tank, 14 gal tank on SHO?

The small tank thing comes up every few years. It's called a mistake. All SHOs(Gen I & II) were to come with the extended range tank(18.5 gal). Apparently, every now and then, a small tank got out on. I remember several day long, dead horse beating threads on this.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, LET'S NOT GO THROUGH THAT AGAIN!

I just spoke with a rep at the UPS Hazardous Materials Support Center. She
said the tank would have to be drained and "purged" and I should write on
the outside of the carton that the tank is empty. I figured I'd have to hit
the tank inside and out with degreaser and let it dry for a day or two.
That should take care of "purging." So it sounds like it'll work.

The gent who's interested in this 18-gal tank has confirmed he's got a
14-gal tank in his SHO. I'd never heard of such a thing. Anyone know
history on this? Just curious to learn.
