Subject: [Shotimes] methods to swap my engine
Hi
I was planning on swapping my engine by dropping the subframe and pulling
the trans (I need to swap subframes anyway). So up until this point, I'd use
an engine support brace as if I was doing a clutch job (if I can locate the
shared NJ brace-Bill?). Now, I assume I can attach the chains holding the
motor to a hoist, take up slack in the chain, remove the brace and pull the
motor?
What about installing the engine? It seems a bit tricky to have to transfer
the engine from the hoist to an engine brace. I'm also working with limited
space if I do this in my driveway so I will need to keep the hoist in front
of the car which may interfere with moving the subframe around, jackstands,
etc. IOW, I will probably need to reuse the brace for installation so that I
can move the hoist out of the way to re-install the trans and subframe..
(I'm feeling the pain in my back and arms just thinking about this)
Ideas?
thanks
Ian
