At some point your going to lose the engine by doing all this
transfering from brace to cherry picker. You have alot of options you
can use. Remove the engine from the top and leave the trans in an MTX
car this is pretty easy. do everything like you were going to do a
clutch and then pull the bellhousing bolts wiring, fuel lines
and.battery tray. In my case I had to do it this way to keep my fully
charged R-12 system intact. Next up is the harder but doable pull the
engine and trans out of the top. This is a real PITA to do and usually
requires a few friends to help move things along and get it unstuck.
Next up for the driveway pull. Pull the engine trans and subframe as one
unit.Basically what John said but without the hoist. This is going to
require a pair of jacks and some 4x4 timbers and a pair of moving
dollies! Disconnect everything use the picker to hold the whole damn
thing in the air lower everything onto moving dollies or some sort of
wheeled platform make sure you have the car at the full height of your
jack. Then the 4x4's or what have you come in with the jack on the
unibody rails and jacks down and stacked safley and lift the body oh
yeah chock the hell ouf of the back wheels. lower the picker with
everything attached onto rolling platform! I know a guy that did it that
way that had never pulled and engine in his life and he had it out in an
afternoon with the Y pipe attached! Now after pulling a few SHO motors
and doing some engine swaps this next way IS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT. Pay
someone that's done a bunch of them to do the swap. It only hurts when
you open your wallet!
