[Shotimes] SHO fun in Illinois

Spent Saturday evening at a local Cruise-in in Metamora IL. Because of
thunderstorms in the area, the turn-out was a bit light, but there were
still about 50 nice cars from the 30's through today, including two SHO's.

I took the '89 race car (still cleaned up from the Bloomington show the
previous week) and my wife drove the '96 and took off early after we had
supper, so she could wrench her knee taking our granddaughter ice skating.

It was a lot of fun to watch people compare the V6 and V8 engines, and I
spent a couple hours answering questions about the '89.

Many of the younger crowd (teens through 20 somethings) just were amazed
that I had a race helmet in the car and my ancient BFG R1's on as
tires. Always asking: "Do I REALLY race that thing?". I told them
about all the convention track days, driving schools and other races
including drags that the car has taken me through and they were amazed.

Maybe the new set-up in the '89 needs more tuning to get to full power,
but I still enjoy demonstrating the rather snarly idle that the car has now.

SHO ownership is a state of mind, and my SHO's put me in a pretty good
state of mind. Even if they act up from time to time.
