I am tearing down a 3.0L. The cam covers, belt, damper, crank sensor, and
the crank timing-belt pulley all are off. I am looking at the oil pump and
have removed 4 bolts that held the oil pump onto the block.
I have very gently tried to pry the oil pump away from the block. It seems
stuck toward --- uh, the rear of the engine ... or right side, to you
traditionalists ... or on the left, as you look straight at the oil pump.
By any chance, is there a bolt coming from inside the block? Do I need to
remove the oil pan to get to that? Or is there something else I need to do
to free up the oil pump?
Thanks.
