   Before suspecting a pump, check the fuel cutoff valve.  It's in the trunk, on the driver's side.  Put a finger through the hole in the liner, find a squarish plastic button, and push down.  I know, it's probably not that, but it's worth a shot.  My previous '89 had this problem after about three weeks on my old bumpy road.  It'd be fine until I backed up, then any little bump was enough to finish tripping the switch.
