[Shotimes] (semi OT) $2K car for teen sons

Joseph,

I agree with Ron, the car you have is the best bet. These CV's CAN
handle, so rather than sell the CV for 2K (if lucky) and get a decent
SHO (only other choice I would approve) for 2K (also a big gamble), why
not take ONE thousand and upgrade the CV with better shocks, Eibach
springs and a set of nice wheels/tires (OK, may not make all that for
1k, but I think you can do most of the work yourself). Remove the big
mufflers and leave all the other exhaust bits and it should sound better
(always wanted to do that to my '94 CV but didn't so I don't know
exactly what it would sound like, but more exhaust note would be
welcome). and throw a few stickers on it and you have a super sized
ricer from America! :)

Really, it is a safe car that you are familiar with, easy to fix and
already paid for. And yes, again, Ron is right, let the kids pick their
own stuff when they can afford it.

A first car is first freedom. They will forget the big floaty part as
soon as they get to go out and DRIVE.
