I use a 4x4 setup off of some 2x5 pieces, about like everyone elses.
Very little flex on the 4x4 to lift up the motor/trans. I use several
tie down ratchet straps to lift with sine I have them around. you can
kind tweak the angle a bit it you need to that way.
Really, I think next time, now that I am blessed with access to a
hydraulic 2 post lift, I will just drop the
engine/trans/subframe/suspension out the bottom and work on it all out
of the car. Beats being leaned over or being under the lift reaching
up anyday. just set it on a rolling platform that's nicely the height
you need and have a blast with it.
