I don't know about winning, but I'm glad my logic still works.  That's what helps
make them last so long for me...outthinking and outwitting the potential failures.

Definitely correct.  The two form a sandwich, with the belt retaining plate/washer
being in the middle.  This is probably the weakest point in the engine, because
there is no way to REALLY insure torque is satisfactory on that one single bolt. 
All the other things.....oil and rods....are driver dependent....don't lug it, and
the bearings will survive.  This bolt and its ramifications are pretty much luck and
ouija boards.
