Hey,

Discouraged rookie wrench turner here. Replaced the
timing belt, CPS, and drive belts over the last couple
of months and after help from the list, resolved a few
mistakes. Well, there was one additonal mistake that
came back and bit me hard this week. Apparently I had
put too much tension on the timing belt and I burned
up the tensioner. I guess it could have been going
bad from age, but what are the odds. Anyway, I am in
need of a new one and the local dealer want $111 +
tax. Is that a decent price or should I be looking
elsewhere? From what I have read and the responses I
have got from Zone and Pep Boys, this a dealer or yard
item. Do yards sell these and are these specific to
the 3.0 SHO? I also put a pretty good scorch mark on
the new timing belt. It appears pretty superficial,
but I could smell I shut it down to investigate the
noise. I would hate to drop another $60 on another
one, but what is $60 when your talking about tearing
it apart again, right?

TIA,

Dave
