[Shotimes] transferring a windshield

The windshield is cracked in my wife's 95 LX wagon. A local glass shop is
willing to transfer a healthy, newer windshield from my expiring 91 SHO.
(The gift that keeps on giving.)
We want to make this transfer because a new windshield for her car would be
north of $300 and we don't have that.
Anyone have any experience in removing a windshield in such a way that it
can be reused? Any tips? Just want to do this cleanly and without damaging
it in any way that would preclude re-using it.
There is a deadline, because our 16-year-old needs this wagon to take his
road test, and some testers won't ride in a car with a cracked windshield.

p.s. Reminds me of one of those rules of flying: A good landing is one you
can walk away from. A great landing is one where the aidcraft can be
re-used.
