[Shotimes] looking for suggestions for things to see in L.A. / San Diego

My wife is planning a trip for us to L.A./San Diego for about 5 days in
June. I'm looking for suggestions for places/things to see.

I'm interested in things like car museums, beaches with interesting people,
movie-related things, scenic roads into the hills or along the beach, etc. I
like to see local favorites and not touristy things.

Probably won't go to Disneyland, won't take tours of movie stars homes,
things like that.
