Pete:
 It sounds like the intermediate shaft has some slop in it. The part is
pretty expensive and I don't know if Ford still has this or not.  I think
you need part #F5DZ-3B676A. List about $165. I am sending you a repair
procedure separately that should let you fix your old shaft assembly.
