I wonder if your fuel pump is dying...

I have run my '93 MTX out intentionally ( to see how far it will go after
the needle is on the bottom) and never had a problem restarting it.

Subject: [Shotimes] Ran Out Of Gas Today.... Oh What a Day

Ran out of gas today 500 feet from the pumps. The
experience I had after that will remind me never to
let it happen again. Walked over to the pumps and used
a gallon water jug I had just purchased. Three trips
and 3 gallons of gas dumped into the tank, and she
still would not start. Bled the fuel rail several
times. Engine would start and then die. To make a long
story short, got her going, then she died 3 more times
on the road. Oh what fun pushing her off the road each
time in 90 degree Florida heat. Has anyone else ever
gone through this when they ran out of gas. Does it do
any damage to any parts when it does run out of gas.
Thanks.
-Pete
