[Shotimes] Heater Hoses

I would have liked to have replaced all of the heater hoses on this 
60 k, but they are unattainable.  Got the 2 that attach to the heater 
core from Tom T.  The little "u" shaped one came from Rock Auto as 
a Gates #18775.  It had to be cut down.

But the other?  Like the ones that are swegged onto the end of a 
steel tube.  Was thinking that maybe I should just hack off the end,
but without a barb, what would keep the rubber hose secure?

Wondering what others have done and what the lifespan of these hoses is?
