Actually, for pure dragstrip performance, I thought the test came out pretty
well!!
IMHO, they would have seen a greater difference if they were running a
small-block engine with a LOT less cubes. With the torque that a 502 can put
out in the 60' and 1/8-mile, it won't be affected as much. They still got a
decent increase in trap speed, though.
Someday I'll have to scan the Sport Compact Car test from a few years ago,
where they did track, dragstrip, and dyno runs with a variety of combos
(never had this article online AFAIK). It was good for comparing results on
a car with a smaller engine and less power.

Came across a short article in Car Craft where they test the benefits of
going to lighter wheel/tire combo's. They didn't get the results they were
looking for, but it did help a bit..
