Joe,

If you are into model cars or other collectibles, that is what it is
intended for. Some people could care less about models or displays.
Personally, I don't collect that many model cars anymore, but model
engines are neat. I try to get all the good ones I can. That is why I
worked so hard to get good detail on this one. Some people love
detailed miniatures.

And yea, for the guy that noticed the plug wires.....the plug wires are
probably wrong, but I had a hard enough time trying to explain the hex
shape on the valve cover bolts. and one of the pre-production versions
had cam sprockets that would never come close to lining up with the
cams! If you want to really nit pick I bet you can find dozens of
things wrong. I know of several that I tried to get corrected and at
that point, the factory was just not understanding. I won the battles I
could and let the small stuff go.

I have a very good 283 Chevy model engine, and somehow they missed that
the plug wires are supposed to go inside some of the shielding. But
they have all the correct shielding but run the wires outside. I would
have thought someone would have caught that, but now that I have gone
through it, it is like proofreading one of your own books or stories.
You know what it is supposed to look like, and the brain sometimes just
sees what is supposed to be t here.

I think it came out pretty good though. And I think it is well worth
the money. This was not a money making project, I am hoping to do just
a tiny bit better than break even.

As for value, I have been told by some model shops that this kind of
thing can be a good seller and be a real collectible, but like the cars
themselves, it will be among the SHO enthusiast group first and then
among the diehard collector of model engines. I have no idea what you
could get for one on E-bay in a few years. The rare Franklin Mint
cutaway 283 Chevy engine has about doubled in value on E-bay.

Don't buy it as an investment, buy it if you like this kind of thing.
Otherwise, yes, if you have the room the real thing makes a nice table
for a rec. room, or a bare block is a good wine rack.
