My A/c units have been off since May.  It hasn't rained at my house since
sometime in June, and this week we've had the first under 98 degree weather
since early July.  Winter to me starts sometime in December.  I'm hoping it
will be cooler in Chicago for Ben's wedding.

I don't know where you/they got that definition...around here winter is when
I start
shrinking my power bill by not having to run the house air conditioner until
3 AM
every night so I can sleep.  From Nov. to Jan. I can turn it off after the
sun goes
behind the roof of the house next door (we are a single story with a couple
of 2
story houses to the west).  That'll happen in another month.  And....I can
also stop
taking 6 hour showers while I am working on the car(s).....I stop drowning
in my own
sweat when the outside ambient temperature goes below about 80F/27C.  

Winter......pffth!!!
