Yes, I believe they are unrelated. I also have poor fuel economy. I
might throw a new BAP sensor in when I have time to see if that helps.
I've replaced every other damn sensor...
The purge cannister is implicated only because that's the dumping
ground for fumes if they can't get back to the tank, so these are
mistakenly replaced when the issue is someplace else.
About the long crank, I suspect that your fuel pump might be dying
slowly. How old is it?
