Kevin
I'm glad that you are well and that you're returning
home soon. That's really good news!
I'm not condoning any of the looting down there.
However, I was under the impression that a lot of the
people who stayed in New Orleans were poor minority
groups who did not have the means to travel nor any
place to go. Combined with a slow relief effort, lack
of food, supplies, electricty and running water and
surrounded by death and despair, I can understand how
an irrational mob mentality begins to take over. I'm
guessing that people grabbed guns to feel "safe" but
in reality its making things much more dangerous.
Without food, people turn to alcohol to numb the pain.
Guns, alcohol and starving, angry people are never a
good mix. The entire situation is a born to lose deal.
I hope that things start to get better really soon.
I'm glad to hear that you got out ok and still have a
place to call home.
