Recently I purchased a 93 MTX so that I could take my pony off the road
for the winter. I purchased the auto with an overheating problem that
didn't seem major. The previous owner had just had the thermostat
replaced and that had no lasting effect. The weekend after I purchased
the car I took off on vacation and left the SHO with Import Auto (Colo.
Springs). I told them to "fix it" and I'd be back for it. The didn't
bother to look at the service records - sitting on the passenger seat of
the car - or else they'd of know the thermostat was already replaced and
that wasn't the problem. So the car got its 2nd thermostat in weeks.
Goof balls. That won't get a second chance to make a first impression.
The car continued loosing coolant so I dropped it off at the Ford Dealer
(Phil Long Chapel Hills Ford, Colo. Springs) and they couldn't assess
the problem either. Only after leaving the system under pressure
overnight they were able to determine the radiator cap was slowly
letting coolant out of the top. So a few dollars later - she's tip top
and no more disappearing coolant.
