[Shotimes] Was fuel now electrical

I did a little work on Marlene's '91 today.Well the black evil one did get fuel to the rails and he did finally start.Why?I really have no idea.While he was running at idle I took him down from the jack stands.I sent woman to gas station for fuel.I'm doing final inspections of everything,tighting down the battery hold down and the electrical gremlins invade.
He died.I'm thinking WTF
I get out and wiggle the pos.cable,while the key is still on.Go back inside and try to start,the fan turns on and I hear the pump do its thing.He again starts up.OK...Electrical gremlins are invading.I put the fuel in and return to inspection mode.I pull the pos.cable off and he dies again.WOW,interesting.
I get woman to do key on key off thing.Fan goes on,fan goes off.All the while I'm wiggling the pos. cable.
When the fan came on I noticed so did the pump and he would start.Strange.I do this with the cable for several minutes.When I moved the cable in different locations he would die.Got some crazzzy shit going on up in here now.While running I get her to roll down the passenger window so I can talk witout raising my voice,he died. 
I jack up the front and inspect the cables from the starter to the solenoid back to the battery,everything looked ok.Any ideas?Could the alternator be bad?Its less than 1 year old.
