I have been converting my vinyl to CD using Roxie easy media creator. The
patch cord came from Radio Shack, RAC to mini plug, your tape player will
need a pre amp output to not over power the sound card. The less devices you
go through the cleaner the sound. I bought a new turn table with a pre amp
built in and plugged it into my sound card, sounds pretty good from vinyl
that is 45 years old. Will need a good amount of hard disk space as the
files can get quite large.
