[Shotimes] Potty Training My SHO, cheaply?

Yes, start driving it more!! And when you take it out, do a good 10 miles to
get things hot.

In reality, IMHO one of the reasons that my '89 was basically so dependable
(except for the "Hell Year" from mid '91 to mid '92) was that it was driven
virtually every very day.

When mine was up for sale, it was parked for about three months. Upon firing
it up to drive it around before the buyer came for it, it developed a few
more noises, and blew more oil smoke when cold than normal. On the way to
the meeting point a few days later, after about an hour on the road the
stereo started cutting in & out when I would hit bumps (which it never did
before).

I attribute all of the new issues from being parked.

Well, as I mentioned before, the SHO is no longer my daily driver and when I
do fire it up, it's gone to leaking oil from a mysterious place. Since I
drive it so infrequently now, because, well, I hate to admit it, because I'm
selling it, arrrgh!, it appears to have developed new issues. Namely, the
leak and now I've noticed that it seems to be dumping oil into the exhaust.
As I let it idle on jacks last night to try once again to determine the
location of the leak, it piddled oily water condensation from the pipes. In
my 50,000 miles of driving, it's never done that. So, I guess my question
is:
Since I don't drive it much anymore, could the seals be hardening and
allowing
leaks? If that's possible, would driving it more get those seals to soften
up
with the heat and what not? I want this car to be a good car for the next
owner, and I'm not asking for a fortune, but I don't want to sell a problem
to
someone nor put a lot of money into it for not a lot of return.
I took it for about a twenty mile run last night and after about two miles,
it
stopped smoking. Again, I want to be honest with potential buyers. I'm big
into Karma, not to mention the fact that they'll know where I live....
Thanks,
JB
