[Shotimes] Autocross a SHO

Having raced RC for a while I understand how driver and equipment are both
important. I laugh every time a racer tells me "it's all about the driver",
then I look over at his pit space and it a few thousand worth of the latest
go-fast gear. Not to say my SHO is junk, but it might not be the right tool
for the job. Racing for a parking space in a crowded Wallmart lot I would
rather be driving a Pontiac Vibe then my wife's Town Car.
What I don't want to do is spend a lot of money on my SHO to get it be a
fair Crosser, when for not much money I can buy a used Saturn, Mustang, RX-7
etc and be better off.
I kind of had the idea that the classes would be divided by type as well as
mods. I pictured the official telling me I would run "after the Grand Prix
but before the Accord", other 6-cylinder 4 doors. If I will be running
against Miata's and 280Zs I need to rethink this thing.
Good news is there is a race in 2 weeks. They have a "Fun Class" where you
can run anything and are handed your times, but no scoring or prizes.
Sounds fun, and I can't lose! I plan to attend and I am sure seeing it will
tell me a whole lot more then reading about it. Who knows, there may be
other 4doors running and I might not have the heaviest thing there.
Thanks for the help!
