Remember I specified at the "local" level. At this level, I have seen
top national drivers in a totally stock Mazda 323 Beat modestly good
drivers in big block vettes, Miatas and everything else, get low ET
without a compensation factor.
Also I have seen drivers in 90 hp 60's era AMC's beat drivers in modern
"sports" cars.
Yes, of course the same driver in a faster car will be faster, that
should go unsaid. At the local level driver skill is much more a factor
than the car.
If you have a local club that has a high concentration of national level
drivers, then I don't consider that "local" level anymore.
I am being realistic. The point was to point out that when starting
out, what car you drive matters a LOT less than just getting seat time.
Worry about what car to have, and what mods later.
This is just good common sense.
