Correct, sir...that situation will also produce one click.  But it will be a lot
louder, and if you sharpen your senses in your clutch foot and perhaps your hand on
the key, you can feel a single clunk throughout the drivetrain.  If something is
siezing the engine, and won't let the crankshaft turn, the entire engine will jump a
tiny bit, due to the torque of the starter, and you can feel that movement inside
the cabin.

That's a problem I wouldn't wish on anyone!!
