Milder single malts

If you want a gentler intro to a decent single malt, try something like 
Glenkinchie.  It is a Lowlands malt and they tend to be much lighter and 
more subtle (i.e., not as peaty or fiery as some of the Highlands or 
Islays), and this whiskey has been used for a number of years as a 
component of blends such as Dimple Haig.  We had Glenkinchie in a taste 
session a few years ago, and it was fascinating to see that those folks who 
hadn't tried single malts before all thought this one was the best.

P.S. Unfortunately the MG needs all available firepower for ignition so may 
have to resort to a couple of gallons of the less subtle (and less 
expensive) stuff for lift-off.
