The birthplace of the Republican Party is about 6 miles from WST's 
cottage in Ripon WI.
The John Birch Society headquarters was in Appleton, and may still 
be. (I don't want to google them, I might get on a "list")
Speaking of lists, Joe McCarthy is still in Appleton....    (and 
Houdini spent his life trying to escape)  It only took me 5 years!
