All this talk of V A L V E  C O V E R S  had me go and search on one 
of the patent numbers on a old M O R R I S valve cover I had laying about.

It seems US patent number 249.2219 is from Dec 27,1949 and describes 
the timing chain tensioner device on the camshaft..... the 2 rubber 
rings, that are now viewed to be superfluous at best, and problematic at worst.

Cool, eh?
