Use standard pop-rivets, probably 1/4". Just drill-out the old ones and don't
worry about them. In my experience, they didn't make any noise.

One comment though. While installation of these convertible tops is very
doable, I would consider buying a new one since they can be a little tricky,
and definitely tedious to install. I would also do it in a warm garage and
make sure your top is warm so that you get a good fit after the material
shrinks.

I am going to remove the tattered rag that tries to pass as a top on our '76
and swap it for a used one that was given to me.  I realize this isn't the
best solution, but it will allow me to drive it on days with rain in the
forecast.  In Washington that is more often than not.  So far I've never
driven it with the top up but have to watch the weather.

So, the questions:

What size and material are the rivets that secure the seal retainer to the
header rail?

I was planning to drill out the rivets, but I don't see a way to get the
remains out of the header rail after they a drilled out and drop into the
space in the header rail?  Am I missing something, or are they just left in
there to rattle around?
