[Spridgets] Dashboard modifications

We need to do a bunch of electrical work behind the dash. Since we don't 
have any miniaturized hands available, we were thinking about some kind 
of hinged, or easily removable dash panel. Has anyone ever tried 
anything like this?

Also, can you swap dashboards between years? The car is a 1970 with the 
pillow dashboard. (now more like rock that looks like a pillow) and I 
wouldn't mind swapping in one of the earlier dashboards.
