With a tool like this Ebay #274092427200 you can separate the tie rod end all by yourself.  Just replaced the boots on my Bugeye with this exact same tool.  Just keep cranking the bolt down and when you think something is going to break the ball joint usually pops out with a bang.  Remember to count the turns when you remove the tie rod end.  You may have to still do a front end alignment, but that's easy.  Just take a string and compare the tire edges in the front to the back until you get 0-1/8th inch wider in the back. Good luck.

I haven't done that.  Don't see why it wouldn't work.  I had one that resisted the two hammer approach recently, and this did the trick for $17. It was a little big, but I got it to work.Brian

Anybody ever try this with a spridget? http://www.mossmotoring.com/steering-rack-boot-replacement/
Looking for an easier way to replace the torn boots on the bugeye. Prefer not to do the 2 hammer swing by myself. And with social distancing..... Ryan ------------------------
