[Tigers] Idle problem

You mention “idling” below but is that at 2,000 RPM as initially stated (or has that ben solved)? Does the car idle properly (assumed 600-800 RPM) once it is warmed up? It might be that the idle adjustment screw (for the throttle, not the idle fuel mixture) is not adjusted properly. When the choke is “On” there is a stepped piece that opens the primary throttle plates (more than the normal idle position). So, where as when the choke plate closes at the top..., the throttle plates open more than normal. This may be why the car is starting and running at 2,000 RPM. However, when you open the choke the stepped idle speed piece moves to a position where the throttle plates are (fully) closed and the engine dies.

It's definitely a vacuum leak. I plugged up all of the ports on the carb and the port on the intake manifold that goes to the break booster and nothing changed. So I pulled off the carb and the spacer that goes between the carb and the manifold and looked it over really good and didn't see anything obvious. I reinstalled the carb without the spacer and it runs fine now. I'm waiting for it to cool down and I'll put the spacer back in and see what happens.

Of course, while I had it idling I noticed that the temperature gauge on the dash was getting over 225. I'm not sure how accurate that is and it never boiled over. I'll get out my laser temp gun and poke around a little bit.

Thanks for everybody's guidance.
