[TR] If you use Evapo-rust, I have a question

After treatment with one of those rust converters, I have been rinsing with warm water and immediately putting the part in front of a halogen lamp to dry it. Wiping with alcohol is a good idea (thanks Frank!) If I understand correctly, many of the rust converters contains some organic solvents which may not be removed with only a water wash, and alcohol would help with that. After the rinse I usually wipe with DX-330 (degreaser and wax remover) because I bought a gallon of it years ago.

I rinse before painting. Evapo-Rust leaves a film on the surface. That can help prevent flash rusting if you're not going to paint for a while, but I don't want that easily-soluble film between the paint and piece.

Spill a few drops of Evapo-Rust on the floor or bench and let it dry, and you'll see what I mean.

I use this and am wondering why the instructions say to rinse off afterwards. Won't that cause the item to start rusting again? I typically wipe dry and apply paint.
