[TR] generator vs alternator

I like my GM alternator. Been running for 10 years now on my TR4. TR2 is
still on a genny.

 I gutted an old voltage regulator and did all the odd wire routing inside.
So, no harness chopping.  Downside, ammeter only shows load, not charging.
But I can see the ammeter changes with turn signals and brake lights, so
that's a bit of comfort.

It aligns with my goal that all changes are reversible for the next
caretaker. (Along with the 3 small crates of parts to bring it back to
original...)
