I was not planning on taking it from the race weekend but from Saturday's
test and tune and this is strictly a survey to see how many really want to -
as you pointed out when it comes down to crunch time everyone seems to run
away and I do not plan on changing any of the format for race day.

Hi Ralph,

With all due respect to the VRG tradition of having enduros as part of most
race events, I strongly believe it's time to recognize that only a
relatively small number of the racers showing up for any particular race
event actually participate in such activities. On the other hand, the
portion of the race weekend consumed by these enduros is significantly
disproportionate to the number of participants it satisfies. The time
devoted to enduros could , and in my opinion should, provide multiple
shorter duration track sessions for an overall greater number of race
weekend participants.

Fundamentally, enduros become parades with little or no actual "racing"
between competitors since the participants are generally very diverse in
their performance levels and simply get spread out over the entire track.
This provides little if any interest to the spectators.

If we're looking to generate some additional revenue, it would seem that the
club should look to add special classes of participants to more of our
events. I'm referring to such events as the BMW / Porsche challenge at
Beaver Run. This provides a high level of competition and attracts racers
to VRG that otherwise would not be at our events. We should invite BMW
club, Porsche Club and other specialty club participation at more of our
events. We have good race dates at popular tracks and as such our race
weekends would be attractive to these groups. I suggest we consider adding
such groups as the Factory 5 cobras to participate.

The BMWs, Porsches and Cobra replicas have good spectator appeal.

I, for one, am not interested in having an enduro added to the Beaver Run
weekend.
