John,

If those are prices from NTG, they are in Pounds Sterling, not dollars. So, £284.92 becomes $466.77, £123.49 becomes $206.64, £37.98 becomes $63.55, £28.98 becomes $48.49 at today's exchange rate. This is a total of $785.45. I can tell you from experience two things: first, packing and postage will cost you another $250 and second, if you can get an entire wood set for a Magnette, refinished and ready to install for $1035.45 - JUMP ON IT! I have done nearly a dozen car sets for Magnettes now, and, the materials will run right around $150 all inclusive (glue, veneer, varnish, thinners, sundries etc) and the time involved is about 25 hours PLUS any time it would take to get your existing dash repaired and solid and ready to veneer and varnish. All of the dashes Varnish (marine) is certainly what is called for to get the proper durability, sheen and appearance. None of this is rocket science though it does require a great deal of patience as each coat of varnish has to dry for 24 hours, thus the vast majority of the time is spent with 20 minutes on applying a coat of varnish then waiting overnight to do another, step and repeat for a dozen and a half days or so.

I would encourage you to do your own! At the very least insist that NTG send you many photos of the ACTUAL DASH THAT THEY ARE GOING TO SHIP TO YOU - I have seen several low cost examples of English "refinishing" and, in most instances, you are better off using your unrestored piece - no offense intended to the English wood workers among us.

If you refinished yours and will give it a go.i can trade you something for the burl wood. I have many parts. I picked up two additional magnette s until my project is complete. My address is

I measured dash in place so measurement could be off a tiny bit, but, very close. If you are reworking a dash and need burl walnut veneer for instrument cluster and glove box I have a bit extra. Would be glad to share. Cost... Free to good home. Arch
