If you actually use the car under those conditions, close the RH flap. 
It will cool fine, and you keep the snow off the distributor.
The biggest problem with the transverse cars in winter is that the 
engine cools so much that much nasty sludge forms in the rocker box, and 
the carbs ice up. I had 90% of the grille blocked, only open at left 
top, and still had to make a cover for the rocker box, which also 
deflected cold air from the carbs. And then I wound up fitting carb 
heaters, because the throttle plates and pistons would freeze wide open.
