[Zmagnette] Slightly OT-Carpet adhesive

IMHO, Gorilla Glue would be the very wrong path to pursue. Talk about
permanent and messy.

Used on carpets and trim, contact cement is not all "that" permanent. You
can still remove it with a good yank, if it hasn't cured too long, and even
after curing, a putty knife and elbow grease will get the material up.
Maybe a tad stretched . . . . but up!

Contact cement is forever! Not what you really want for carpets that are
sometimes necessarily removed. Not that I know WHAT to use, but a trip
to a bodyshop supplier might be in order - there is likely something
better for purpose. 3M or Permatex/Loctite is likely as good as you can
get nowdays, even if it is not as good as it used to be, and they make
all sorts of specialised cements. Jaguar used some evil substance that
stayed sticky forever, such that you could remove the carpet & fuzzy pad
several times and it would still stick - to the car and you and
everything you got near for a few days on. I have thought of using the
MGB carpet snaps, easy to fit and removable at will, at least for the
floor sections.
Gorilla glue will do anything contact cement usually does, and is easier
to get in small quantity.
I have not done any weatherstrip without 3M yellow weatherstrip adhesive
- if it is gone I am screwt.
Note that you need to carefully clean any new rubber (lacquer
thinner/Brakleen, etc), as it has evil mold release goop on it, and
nothing will stick.
