The 'Jewel of India Classic Rally' will not be a speed event and
won't require crews to have previous rallying experience, but it will call
for driving skills, stamina, determination,
navigational knowledge and competent preparation of the
vehicles. Already vehicles as diverse as a 4½ litre Bentley, a
Jaguar XK l20 and an MG B are on the entry list.
Commenting on 'the Jewel', organiser Conrad Birch, said, "This is a rare
opportunity for a driver to represent his or her country, as the Jewel of
Nations Trophy will be the pinnacle of achievement for the competitors."
"To ensure that the evenings will be as comfortable as possible after a hard
day's driving, we will be staying in some of the most luxurious hotels in
India, including Indian Palace Hotels, once the homes of India's maharajas.
Where these aren't available the competitors will stay in hotels from the
exclusive Leading Hotels of the World club. "
"To ensure the smooth running of the event the rally is supported by the
Vintage & Classic Car Club of India and our own professional
organisation."
