Maybe a Series II?

I just ran across a pretty nice Series II for sale. I have been thinking that
I need a real car to play with while I wait for the Tiger to get painted and
fixed up. I could go to CAT's Alpine only dinners and stop feeling out of it
by showing up at British car day in my *ord.

Here are the facts: It has the hard top. THere is a grinding noise in first
gear but the others gears sound fine. Milage is unknown. Tires are good. New
soft top and new plastic rear window in the hardtop. No rust, oxidized paint.
What should I offer him for this car?

If I buy it I do have some interesting parts in stock. I have a Series IV that
I cut the fenders off of for the Tiger. I think Steve Alcala's racing Alpine
has the later (non-lever shock?) rear end. Would you transplant? How about the
newer carbs? Any other ideas? How difficult would a 1725/full syncro transplant
be?

You just have to love those fins!
