I've got to wonder about this. The early motors are 3-main and the 1725 is
5-main (right?). Three main sucks or at least seems as if it has the potential
to suck. I'd be really worried about pumping up a 4cyl with only three main
bearings. Please correct or convince me if/that I'm wrong.

As I said my 1600 has real low oil pressure. 15psi at 50MPH 4th gear and 10psi
at idle. I also have a rod noise that gets worse everytime I drive it. My
series II that I used to own came complete with an extra block (the original
one) which displayed a badly spun main bearing. Of course both these motors
could have had very high milage before the problems started but again "the
word" seems to be that there is a problem.

I'm sure it would make a big difference if the numbers are accurate. I could
give you an idea of straight line performance increase (estimated 1/4 mi et,
speed and 0-60 mph time based on a calculator sheet I cooked up) if you have
torque curves for both the stock and modified motors. I could guess at both of
these but then the results arn't as believable. If your interested drop me a
note and we can try and put something together.
