Last Saturday I happened to glance at the antiques & classics
section of the Washington Post, and I saw an add for a foreign
car flea market at London Auto in Fairfax Virginia. My friend
was stopping by to see if he could fit his E-type in my garage
and I suggested we check out the sale. We were both glad we did,
though his haul was a little better than mine. The market
consisted mainly of British car used parts along with some Fiat
stuff. I found a pair of excellent condition inside screw amber
tail lens for $2 a piece and an ash tray for $5, a few scratches
but better than mine. My friend
bought a box of new E-Type weather stripping for $25 bucks. When
he got home, he saw the kit advertised in a catelog for $595.
Sure, some of the more expensive pieces (e.g., windshield surround)
were missing, but it was still a great deal. It goes to show, it
never hurts to look.
