On behalf of the Hillman Owners Club I accept your applogies, Dick.
However, I think you underestimate the suave character of the Minx. With
a little imagination I think I could see Sean Connery thrashing about the
English countryside in a stylish Minx (or maybe that's Pee Wee Herman I'm
seeing). And besides, the column shifter was very vogue at the time (so
much more civilized than the floor mounted gearchange).
Don't foget that within every Alpine(Tiger) lurks a Husky (Minx).
Speaking of Hillman owners, I'd be curious how many of us there are out
there and which types of Hillmans are represented. I have a neat little
red '55 Mk. VIII Minx convertible that's in wonderful shape and I get
admiring glances wherever I go. It's also amazing the number of Hillman
stories I get to hear from the many people I meet. Hillmans seem to be
such a common denomenator for so many people. Most agree that if Hillman
had the dealer service support Volkswagen did, Hillman would probably
have outsold the bug as most agree it was a better car for the money when
new.
So come on Hillman owners, let your voices be heard. If you're out
there, we could start a little discussion.
